Cost for transport is $45 per person. One person will get a free trip - we will draw the name from a hat as we leave in the morning.

We will meet at 5:30 a.m. on Saturday morning, April 26th, at Rockport Birding and Kayak Adventures (www.rockportadventures.com), 216 North Fulton Beach Road. We will load our kayaks and fishing gear aboard their transport boat, the Skimmer, and try to leave by 6:00 a.m. Capt. Tommy Moore will be taking us to the edge of the Fence Lake area on the backside of San Jose Island for a day of fishing and kayaking. This is a premier flats fishing area where tailing redfish are commonly found. But don’t overlook the drop-off along the shoreline, potholes, and passes for Speckled Trout. The Skimmer will return to pick us up later that afternoon, approximately 3:30 p.m. A definite time and location for the return trip will be determined that morning.

We are going to a remote area, and we will be on the water all day. Some things you should consider bringing are:

Birds Action in the SurfBirds Action in the SurfThe time has arrived once again for the annual migration of bait fish back to the warmer southern waters of South America. For the Texas Coast, this usualy translates into swarms of bait in the surf and in turn, swarms of predators. This means a good chance for fast paced, heart pounding fishing action.

Bill Slough: Tarpon caught on a jetty on the Texas Coast.Bill Slough: Tarpon caught on a jetty on the Texas Coast. On Saturday, August 11th, we will try another overnight stay on the North Jetty at Port Aransas. Unlike previous outings, this will occur on the new moon, meaning there will be no moon at all. There is still a lot of reflected light from Port Aransas, but you won't be able to walk around with out lights like you frequently can on the full moon. In addition to head lamps, it helps to have a larger flashlight. If the only one you have is round, tie a cross piece to the butt to keep it from rolling off the rocks.
